What is DynaWizard?
DynaWizard is a Windows maintenance automation system designed for use wherever workstation configurations need to be retained no matter what is done by the users of the computer. Some examples of this might be training lab computers, public access internet terminals, multimedia kiosk systems etc. DynaWizard ensures that the workstation returns to its set configuration each time, every time.
How is DynaWizard different from any other products?
The key difference of DynaWizard from any other product available today is that DynaWizard only fixes the changes that have occurred to a workstation since it was last checked. Other products usually maintain an image which is copied to the workstation in an all or nothing approach. DynaWizard incrementally removes excess files, start menu items, shortcuts etc. and only replaces the files that belong if they have been changed in any way. In this way DynaWizard is fast, if no changes have occurred then nothing needs to be done. On average DynaWizard adds only 20-30 seconds to the boot process and reduces maintenance to near zero.
Does DynaWizard need to work from a server?
No, DynaWizard has been designed with a number of options in mind, so while some organizations may have a server available to store the workstation image, DynaWizard can equally be used with image stored on a recordable CD-ROM or other high capacity media such as DVD. In these scenarios, workstation maintenance would not occur everytime the workstation booted (although this may be viable for a Multimedia Kiosk) but rather an operator could simply place the CD-ROM in the drive and boot the workstation from a preconfigured boot floppy to clean and repair the workstation back to its original configuration in no time at all.
Will DynaWizard work with my applications?
Yes, DynaWizard has been tested with a large range of standard applications from many different vendors. Since most of the operations performed by DynaWizard are done before Windows is loaded there is very little chance that any particular application will be incompatible.
What server platforms does DynaWizard support?
Current support is for Windows NT/2000/2003, NetWare 4.x/5.x and 6.x and Linux. DynaWizard can be made to function in a variety of other environments using some of the freely available emulators.
What else can DynaWizard do?
One of the key features of DynaWizard is the ability to make minor and major changes to the workstation image without the need to recreate the image from scratch. So for example if an organization had 30 workstations in a training lab and wanted to update or add a file to each one or create a new directory on each one, the DynaWizard Image Manager can make this change almost as easily as if you were doing this on your own computer. After the change is made, each workstation will take up these changes next time it is rebooted. DynaWizard Image Manager can add, delete, rename, move and replace both files and directories. Because of this flexibility, DynaWizard can also support multiple hardware types from a single image thus saving precious server disk resources for other data.
How long will DynaWizard take to clean and verify my computer?
On average DynaWizard would add an extra 20-25 seconds to your boot process if you had a Pentium III 500 workstation containing 800-900Mb of data. If you had a Pentium 4 2.4GHz containing 2-4Gb of data, DynaWizard would add an extra 15-20 seconds to your boot process.
Can I upgrade from DynaWizard 1.x?

Can I use my current licence with DynaWizard 2.x?
Yes, your current licence will be valid when using DynaWizard 2.x to rebuild Windows 95/98/Me workstations. If you wish to rebuild Windows NT/2000/XP workstations then you will need to purchase an upgrade.
Can I convert my current image(s) to DynaWizard 2.x?

Can I store my image(s) on a Linux server?

When will NTFS be supported for the boot drive (ie. C:\)?
The NTFS file system driver is still in development at this stage. No release date has been set at this time due to the complexity of the NTFS file system.
